Police Not Ruling Out an Arab Attacker in Fatal Arson Attack in Duma

20150731022903Amid widespread condemnations and apologies from state leaders regarding the fatal arson attack in Duma last week, police have not ruled out the possibility that the attackers were Arabs and not Jews.

The firebomb attack on homes in the PA (Palestinian Authority) village of Duma in the Shechem district led to the death of 12-month-old Ali Darawshe. His father, mother and 4-year-old brother were seriously burned. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin were among the senior officials apologizing amid reports eyewitnesses in the village saw “masked settlers fleeing the scene”. Graffiti including “Yechi HaMelech HaMoshiach” and “Revenge” were found at the scene, all leading police to believe Jews committed the attack, however there is now evidence showing this may not have been so.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on erev Shabbos Nachamu spoke with PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and said that everyone in Israel was shocked by the reprehensible terrorism against the Darawshe family. The Prime Minister added “We must fight terrorism together regardless of which side it comes from,” and noted that he had ordered the security forces to use all measures to locate the murderers.

Mr. Netanyahu on Friday afternoon also visited Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv to inquire into the condition of the members of the family who sustained serious burns in the attack. The prime minister at the end of that visit stated “I just came from the bedside of four-year old Ahmed Sa’ed. Sixty percent of his body is burned. We’re doing everything we can to save this young boy, give him a life. His two parents are in other parts of the Israeli health system. We’re trying to give them the best treatment to save their lives. When you stand next to the bed of this small child, and his infant brother had been so brutally murdered, we’re shocked, we’re outraged. We condemn this. There is zero tolerance for terrorism wherever it comes from, whatever side of the fence it comes from, we have to fight it and fight it together. I spoke to President Abu Mazen right before I entered the hospital. I told him of this visit and of Israel’s absolute commitment to find the perpetrators, bring them to justice. We have to calm the spirits and recommit ourselves to our joint battle against terrorism and extremism. It’s something that all parts of the Israeli government and all parts of Israeli society agree on. It’s important that we make a common cause with our Palestinian neighbors to give ourselves a better future – a future free of violence, free of terror, a future of peace.”

  1. Man, Bibi is losing it. He spoke to Abbas to work “together” to apprehend the perpetrators?! Are you kidding me? Abbas is making sure the Arabs who committed this horrible crime are protected & never caught! Let the Israeli white Jewish guilt worry about framing someone.
It would be nice if Bibi was at least as concerned when a fellow Jew is slaughtered by his friendly Arab neighbors.

  2. some of the hebrew writing is similar to arabic calligraphy
not hebrew shaped letters also there appears to be a conflct between 2 clans in the town

Who Knows. But the fact that the graffiti included “Yechi HaMelech HaMoshiach” is somewhat suspicious. Though ‘settlers’ tend use the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s declarations to defend their positions they aren’t usually the Mishiachist type. They are more likely to write “Kahana Chai” and things like that.
It is very conceivable that some Arabs didn’t do their research and chose a few phrases they thought would sound provocative – as has been proven over and over in the past.
